I've never used Ria before. What do I do?
No problem — it's quick:
- Look for the text message you received when the money was sent. It contains a link to get started.
- Follow the link — it will take you to the Ria website, where you'll complete your registration.
- Sign in with the same phone number where you received the message. Your Ria account will then be created, and once you're signed in, you'll be asked to provide a few more details.
- You'll see the pending transfer on your "Activity or Home" screen — select it and follow the steps.
- To verify your identity, you'll be asked to take a photo of your ID document or passport and a quick selfie. Allow your browser to access your device's camera so you can do this.
In most cases your identity is verified in seconds. As soon as everything checks out, you'll receive a message letting you know that your money is ready for collection and where to collect it.
I already have a Ria account. Do I need to do anything?
Probably not! If your account is up to date and your identity verification is still valid, you'll simply get a notification letting you know your money is ready. The sender will get a similar one with the PIN to share with you. Just grab the PIN from the sender and head to the ATM.
We'll only ask you to update your details if something has expired (like your ID document) or if the information doesn't match what the sender gave us.
Why do you need a photo of my ID and a selfie?
It's how we make sure the money goes to the right person — you! This identity check is required by law for money transfers, and it protects your money from ending up in the wrong hands. Your documents are handled securely and in line with data protection laws (GDPR).
I didn't receive the sign-up text message
A couple of things to check:
- Look in your spam or blocked messages, just in case.
- Ask the sender to double-check the phone number they gave. If it's wrong, they'll need to return to the store to cancel the order and place a new one with the correct number.
