Sending money to Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan or Turkmenistan
If you're sending money to a bank account in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan or Turkmenistan, you'll need to provide the recipient's Visa or Mastercard card number.
Only Visa and Mastercard numbers are accepted. You won’t be able to send money to any other card in these countries.
Visa and Mastercard bank card number format
These bank card numbers are 16 digits long.
- Visa card numbers start with a 4
- Mastercard numbers start with a 5
| If the card number starts with a number other than 4 or 5, it isn’t a Visa card or Mastercard and therefore won’t be accepted. |
Sending money to Kyrgyzstan
If you're sending money to a bank account in Kyrgyzstan, you'll need to provide the recipient's ELCART card number.
- ELCART numbers are 16-digits long and start with 9147.
Sending money to Tajikistan
If you're sending money to a bank account in Tajikistan, you'll need to provide the recipient's KORTI MILLI card number.
- KORTI MILLI cards are 16-digits long and start with 5058.
Sending money to Uzbekistan
If you're sending money to a bank account in Uzbekistan, you'll need to provide the recipient's UZCARD or HUMO card number.
These bank card numbers are 16-digits long.
- HUMO card numbers start with 9860
- UZCARD card numbers start with a 8600
Transfers to these countries will be made in Euros
Transfers to these countries are made in Euros. This means that, if the recipient’s card is in Euros, the amount that is transferred will be deposited.
If the recipient’s card is in a local currency, the recipient’s bank will convert the transfer from Euros to the local currency at its own rate. The recipient should contact the bank that issued the card to find out the exchange rate.
