To make a payment from your bank account, you’ll need to verify it first.

To keep your financial information safe, Ria uses Plaid’s secure verification technology.You can verify your account in two ways: instantly or manually.

Instant verification is the fastest method, but manual verification works if your bank isn’t supported for instant login.

Instant verification

1. Start a transfer and choose your payment method.

2. You’ll be directed to Plaid.

3. Select your bank from the list. Enter your online banking login details.

4. Plaid will verify that you're the account holder.

5. Plaid securely shares your bank account with Ria.  

Your online banking login credentials are never shared with Ria.

Manual verification

If you choose manual verification, Plaid will send one or two small deposits (micro-deposits) to your account.

Here’s what you can expect:

1. Start your transfer and add a new bank account as your payment method.
2. Enter your routing number and then your account number carefully when prompted
3. Plaid will then send a micro-deposit to your account, which could take one to two business days.

In some cases, Plaid will verify your account details immediately after step 2 above, so no further action is required. If you’re prompted to manually verify a code for your micro-deposit, you'll follow the process below.

3-letter code micro-deposit process 

1. Log into your online banking account via their app or website
2. Find the $0.01 deposit that was made into the account that you provided details for previously (step 2 above)
3. Click on this deposit/transaction to view the details. The deposit should come through with a description that reads: #XXX <app_name> ACCTVERIFY
4. The "XXX" above is where a 3-letter code should be (e.g. #ABC Xe App ACCTVERIFY).
5. Once you've found the 3-letter code in the description of the 0.01 deposit, copy the code or write it down for quick access later on.
6. Log into your Ria account. You should be prompted to enter the 3-letter code you found earlier in your bank account to complete the connection process.

Plaid only collects the data needed to connect your bank account to Ria and shares it with us securely so you can pay for your transfer by bank account.
