3D Secure (3DS) helps prevent online fraud and keep your money safe.
It is an additional security layer used for online card payments worldwide. All cards including Visa®, Mastercard®, American Express® and PostePay prepaid cards use 3DS in Europe. It is a mandatory requirement due of the Payment Services Directive (PSD2).
How does the 3DS verification work?
When paying online by card (for a Ria money transfer for example) you'll be sent a one-time password and transferred to your bank’s app or website. You’ll need to enter the password to verify your identity and validate the payment.
In some cases, rather than receiving a password, you'll be redirected to your banking app or website where you'll be prompted to enter your credentials and confirm the payment as per your bank's process.
3DS is a requirement for online businesses in Europe, the UK and in other countries around the world.
At Ria, your financial security is our top priority. We therefore take all possible measures to prevent issues with your money transfer.
How do I enable my card for 3DS?
You can enable your card for 3DS through the bank that issued the card.
What if the authentication fails?
Your bank will only allow a limited number of attempts to validate your Ria money transfer. If you are not able to authenticate, we suggest you use an alternative payment method to transfer money with Ria.
Will I need to authenticate every money transfer?
Every bank has its own identification methods. If you are unsure, please contact your bank.
It may be necessary to do the verification steps every time you send money with Ria.
I received an error message. What happened?
If your card is not 3DS enabled, you will receive an error message and your money transfer will be declined. Contact your bank to have your card enrolled in 3DS, then try the money transfer again.
If your card is 3DS enabled and you've received an error message, please try this payment method again later or try an alternative payment method.
I have a Postepay prepaid card. How do I enable 3DS?
To enroll in 3DS, you’ll need to first connect your prepaid card with a mobile phone number. You can do this at any ATM Postamat (with your card and PIN) or Post Office (with your card and government-issued photo ID).
Once this is done, visit the Postepay website to enroll your card and enable 3DS.
